The genus name of Tree wormwood (Artemisia arborescens) is dedicated to Artemisia, the Greek goddess of nature, protector of medicinal plants while the specific epithet from Latin “arborescens” (“arbor” tree), means “it becomes a tree, a shrub”. It is a perennial plant, can reach 2 meters in height, erect stem much branched, woody at the base, silvery-gray for the presence of a thick and thin hair.
Belonging to the genus Artemisia, it has a fragrant smell of "vermouth". It is used in medicine and in distillery for its active and bitters aromatic ingredients.
