Limonium densiflorum is a genus of plants of the family of Plumbaginacee. Its generic name, also mentioned by Pliny, comes from "limonium" which means “wild chard”, while its specific term, "densiflorum" suggests “plant with abundant flowers”. They are perennial plants with leaves arranged in a basal rosette. The flowers are grouped in showy inflorescences, blue, purple or blue. The blooming is from June to August.
In Italy are spontaneous numerous species of Limonium, which are mostly limited to small areas or small islands. There are only 18 species which are present in more than one region. Typically, they are limited to the coast and do not go beyond the 5-15 m above the sea level. But there are some species that are able to penetrate inland, at low altitudes.
