The mullet is a fish with a massive and elongated body. The colour is blue-grey above, whitish on the belly with black streaks. It is a species with gregarious habits; it prefers soft and muddy bottoms and it able to tolerate wide variations in temperature and salinity. In the lagoon it is fished with nets but mainly with the lavorieri (weirs). Among Mugilidae is the specie that reach larger sizes and is definitely the most valuable.
