BOTANICAL TRAIL
The botanical trail leads to the discovery of the vegetation which grows in these brackish places: halophyte flora. Despite of the majority of the plants, for which is toxic 1% of salt in the soil, halophytes grow best where the concentration is 1-2%. They are adapted indeed, not only to withstand to drought, but even to accumulate salts in their tissues and to eliminate them with a specific apparatus. The panels will describe some of the most representative species of this habitat, some of which are endemic of Sardinia but with a limited distribution in the Island: photos and descriptions will make easier to identify the species in the surrounding environment.
