STAGNO DI CAPOTERRA
Despite the human presence, the lagoon, border between land and sea, is an ecosystem characterized by high biodiversity. It is a haven for water-birds (recorded more than 20.000), some species of Community interest as nesting birds, such as flamingos, gulls mocking, or else other wintering birds such as cormorants, herons, plovers necklace. The vegetation varies with salinity in water and soil: along the banks and at the mouths of rivers, and generally in low brackish areas, it is possible to observe the Common Reed and tifeti. Salicornia and atriplex halime generally colonize areas with brackish water.
