The lagoon environment is an ideal habitat for many species of birds, which come here to wintering or nesting, finding favourable conditions. The environment is particularly suitable for water-birds that it will not be difficult to observe herons, cormorants, seagulls, ducks and pink flamingos. Pink flamingos is the largest among all this birds, which nest here since 1999 reaching, in recent years, over 8000 couples.
Equipped of spyglass, it is possible to see that birds have a coloured ring with imprinted a code. These codes give information about the year and place of birth which are useful to trace the route of made by the birds during their lives, their longevity, their migrations

To easier identify the numerous species it is advised to check on the identification guides. To distinguish them it is therefore important to focus on their shape, size and behaviour. Do not forget that also their bills, wings, plumages, tails, may be distinguishing feature for a specie.
